About this tool

Paste or type JSON in the box, then press Format to pretty-print it in place, or Minify to make it compact. You can keep editing the same text, and Ctrl+Z undoes a format. Invalid JSON is underlined on the exact character as you type. Switch to the Viewer tab to explore the document as a collapsible tree, and copy the path or value of any node.

Questions

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Parsing and formatting happen in your browser, so the data never leaves your device.

Why does my very large number change?

Browsers parse JSON numbers as 64-bit floats, so integers beyond 9007199254740991 lose precision. Keep such values as strings.

Can I edit JSON in the tree?

No. The Viewer is read-only so you can explore a document safely. Make changes in the Text tab, and the tree follows.

Does sorting keys change the meaning of my JSON?

Not for objects, because key order carries no meaning in JSON. Array order is never changed.
